Google’s iPhone Trade-In Offer: A Guide On How To Switch To Pixel 3
Google is now offering iPhone users a chance to get Pixel 3 smartphones at significantly lower prices -- provided they trade their iPhones in at purchase.
Google is paying iPhone users a sizeable amount to be deducted to the cost of purchasing a Pixel 3 smartphone, Phone Arena reported. The amount, which can reach as high as $350 depending on the iPhone’s original cost of acquisition and current condition, can only be used to purchase a Pixel 3 phone regardless of variant.
Those interested in trading in their iPhones and saying goodbye to iOS should visit the online Google Store and click on the “Buy Now” button. Afterwards, they will then have to choose a Pixel 3 model, color and storage size. They will also have to choose a carrier.
After this, buyers will be asked if they are trading an iPhone in. Note that trading in an iPhone doesn’t automatically result to $350 in credit. Google will ask for the iPhone model and current condition before it can give an estimate.
Those who agree with Google’s estimate can proceed to purchase the Pixel 3 smartphone, and send their old iPhone to Google for trade-in. Google will pay buyers once they receive the iPhone and see that it matches the description given.
This is likely one of Google’s largest attempts at getting the iOS crowd to switch to the Android universe. At least, recent research points to that.
According to Counterpoint Research, more than a third of all Pixel 3 and OnePlus 6T sales in the U.S. during the last quarter of 2018 were driven by people who used a Samsung smartphone. Less than one in five, or lower than 20 percent, were previously Apple iPhone users.
The research points out that despite the Pixel 3’s initial success, Google failed to convince a majority of iPhone users to abandon iOS and jump into the Android bandwagon. Jeff Fieldhack, research sirector at Counterpoint Research, explained this well.
“The Pixel was built to lead Android innovation and be a device to sway the iOS base over to Android,” he said. “Over 80% of volumes are coming from its Android partners. This is probably seen as a disappointment.”
Hopefully, Google’s trade-in offer changes that.
