KEY POINTS

  • Greene supported the execution of top Democrat leaders
  • In 2018, she endorsed the hanging of Obama and Clinton
  • Greene had also accused Democrats of staging a coup against Trump

A rookie GOP congresswoman from Georgia on Tuesday indicated her support for the execution of prominent Democratic leaders and federal agents from 2018 to 2019 before she was elected to the House.

Marjorie Taylor Greene, representing Georgia’s 14th Congressional District, “liked” a January 2019 statement that embraced the idea of assassinating House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a CNN analysis of the Greene's Facebook activity revealed.

“A bullet to the head would be quicker,” the statement read.

About a month later, Greene led Trump supporters into Pelosi’s office for a Facebook Live broadcast in which she accused the House speaker of “treason,” and suggested that Pelosi should suffer “death or she'll be in prison.”

Greene's messages about executing top U.S. officials weren't surprising, considering what she said in April 2018. The Republican congresswoman not only posted a conspiracy theory about the Iran Deal -- an agreement former President Barack Obama helped orchestrate -- but endorsed the hanging of both Obama and former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

"Now do we get to hang them ?? Meaning H & O ???," a commenter asked Greene.

"Stage is being set,” the congresswoman replied. "Players are being put in place. We must be patient. This must be done perfectly or liberal judges would let them off."

Soon after, Greene took to Twitter to dismiss a CNN analysis of the social media comments as a “hit piece” to “cancel” her. However, she did not deny any of the allegations. The posts where the comments were made have since been made private.

“Fake News CNN is writing yet another hit piece on me focused on my time before running for political office,” Greene wrote. “Over the years, I've had teams of people manage my pages. Many posts have been liked. Many posts have been shared. Some did not represent my views. Especially the ones that CNN is about to spread across the internet.”

“I will never back down to the enemy of the American people and neither should you,” she added.

Greene also joined in the effort to overturn the 2020 presidential election, and was called out for what she said about it on social media In the weeks that followed election, the Georgia congresswoman accused Democrats of staging a coup against Donald Trump and claimed there was “mass voter fraud” during the election.

“For 4 strait years, the Democrats have been actively engaged in a coup to overthrow the people and @realDonaldTrump,” she wrote. “As if that’s not enough, there was MASS voter fraud on a scale that should terrify every American regardless of political party.”

Her claims of election fraud were later dismissed by Republican election officials and former Attorney General William Barr.
