GoPro Hero 7 Action Camera Accidentally Leaked By A Store Display
The GoPro Hero 7 has been accidentally leaked thanks to Best Buy. It’s currently being speculated that the new action camera from GoPro will be officially announced sometime before the end of the month.
The GoPro Hero 7 was recently spotted at a Best Buy store display. A user on Reddit shared photos of the leaked promotional materials that appears to be a video showcasing the new GoPro Hero camera. The photos show that the Hero 7 will be available in three colors: white, silver and black.
As for the design of the GoPro Hero 7, it looks like it will have an identical exterior to the Hero 6. Another important thing to note here is that it does appear that only the black model of the GoPro Hero 7 will have a display up front. As The Verge pointed out, the difference of the black version from the white and silver models harkens back to the Hero 4. The black Hero 4 didn’t have a touchscreen on its back, while the silver version had one.
Unfortunately, the photos didn’t provide more information on new features or any of the specs of the GoPro Hero 7. However, the photos did reveal that the new action camera will be waterproof by up to 33 feet and that it will have built-in video stabilization. Those features are already present on the Hero 6 and it may suggest that the Hero 7 will be more of an iterative update rather than a major upgrade.
It also looks like the GoPro Hero 7 will feature the same type of camera setup that’s on the Hero 6. If that turns out to be true, then expect the Hero 7 to be capable of 4K video recording at 60 frames-per-second and 1080p full HD at 240 frames-per-second. It’s also very likely that the Hero 7 will still have the same voice control features that were introduced with the Hero 5.
With three models on the way, it looks like GoPro will also have a different strategy in selling its next action camera. As pointed out by CNET, the GoPro Hero 6 lineup didn’t include cheaper models. With the white and silver Hero 7, it’s likely that they will be the more affordable models since they won’t have a secondary display up front. This could attract a lot of customers and possibly boost GoPro’s hardware sales.
