GOT7's Jay B Is Reportedly Dating YouTuber PURE.D; Fans React
GOT7 leader Jay B is reportedly in a romantic relationship with special effects artist and YouTuber PURE.D.
Korean celebrities are usually careful not to reveal their dating experiences to the public to avoid backlash and to protect their privacy, as well as the safety of their partners. Since many fans tend to be "over-protective" of their K-pop favorites, dating is almost a taboo and is often called a "scandal."
Jay B's relationship with PURE.D was first reported by Wikitree on Thursday. The report said the pair had been dating for nine months after meeting through a common acquaintance.
Fans were initially skeptical especially because it came at the heels of another dating report involving fellow GOT7 member Youngjae. The same outlet reported last month that Youngjae was dating soloist Lovey but the rumor was promptly denied by the former's management agency.
But this time, a source close to Jay B and PURE.D has reportedly confirmed the relationship.
"The two are cautious because they are both in industries where their faces are known. The two have been in a good relationship for nine months. Please continue to support them," the source said, Koreaboo reported.
A fan, who seemed upset by the news, tweeted a photo of a woman on a drinking spree and wrote, "Pov: me saying happy for you to jaebeom."
Another fan tweeted a photo of a woman crying on a TV show and wrote, "Jaebeom has been dating for nine months; me not knowing how to process this info."
"This lyric of Fame by JAY B hits different now LMAO," a fan tweeted, referring to Jay B's 2021 song "Fame."
The supporter also shared a portion of the lyrics, which read, "If I'm with you, everything is possible. We got the fame. Everybody is looking at us. You got me. We walk through our own path."
Another supporter urged fans to support the 28-year-old singer and wrote, "Please let's make him feel that him dating is totally fine and we're totally happy for him."
GOT7 members have successfully reinvented themselves as solo performers after leaving JYP Entertainment in 2021. They recently returned with a 6-track album in May, which was followed by two fan meetings in Seoul.
