Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) is going to fulfill his destiny in “Gotham” Season 3. Fox

“Gotham” has just shared a new teaser showing the Court of Owls planning to unleash a sinister “weapon” while Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) is rendered helpless under their clutches with only Ra’s Al Ghul (Alexander Siddig) present to either train him or keep him weak.

“I’ve been waiting a long time for you to begin your journey,” Ra’s Al Ghul tells Bruce. “I have so much to teach you.”

Several scenes flash of Bruce running and being hit by Ra’s Al Ghul, but the teenager is not afraid to stand up for himself. “I’m not afraid of you,” he tells him.

Ra’s al Ghul is the head of the League of Shadows, and he is instrumental in Bruce’s training to become Batman. However, Siddig earlier told Digital Spy that fans will remain on their toes with regards to the character. Is he on Bruce’s side? Is he to be trusted? Or does he have an ulterior motive in training Bruce?

These questions will remain all throughout Ra’s Al Ghul’s presence in the show, said Siddig, since he made the character “as ambiguous as possible.”

“So I really tried to get him so ambiguous that he's almost liquid – that was the way I thought about it. You're really not sure if he's good or bad – no-one knows whether he's a demon or a saint, or a ghost, that's a line from the script,” he said. “I suspect that kind of liquidity can only be fascinating. It certainly fascinates me, and I know I'm going to have fun for as long as I end up playing this character.”

Meanwhile, Mazouz told Comic Book Resources that his doppelgänger known as 514A is also instrumental in the Court of Owls’ nefarious plans. He guaranteed that something big will happen to Bruce that will “ultimately help transform him into the man we know he has to become.”

Bruce’s doppelgänger is also going to help him embrace his playboy persona, which would be played up starting this season. Batman fans all know that Bruce is going to be a womanizing drunk when he grows up, so no one would suspect that he’s really a crime-fighting vigilante. But in “Gotham,” Mazouz said that this side of Bruce won’t be used as a mask.

“What we’re gonna do in ‘Gotham’ is, we’re gonna play with that playboy persona, party boy persona, but it’s not going to be used to cover up secret affairs that are going on, secret investigations, or secret fighting with evil. It’s going to be a reality,” he told Decider.

This change will definitely break the heart of his ex-girlfriend, Selina Kyle (Carmen Bicondova). Even though they have already split up, it’s clear both of them still have feelings for one another. Seeing Bruce make moves on other women will tear Selina apart, and it would be difficult for her to process this because she always keeps her emotions bottled up.

“Gotham” airs every Monday at 8 p.m. EST on Fox.
