‘Gotham’ Star Morena Baccarin Wins Over Ex-Husband, Gets Judge’s Approval To Go To Brazil With Son
“Gotham” star Morena Baccarin had a tiff with her ex-husband, Austin Chick, after he prohibited her from taking their son, Julius, to Brazil out of fear that he might get infected with the dreaded Zika virus.
It was earlier reported by TMZ that Baccarin wanted to take their son to Brazil to visit her dying grandmother, but Chick objected to the trip because he is afraid their son might suffer from the long-term risks of the virus.
For her part, Baccarin is not worried about the virus and even said that Julius’ pediatrician agreed with her that Zika is “not a concern” for Julius. At the same time, Baccarin accused Chick of lying about Brazil’s health safety concerns. When their family traveled there before the divorce, Baccarin said that Chick never had any complaints. She has now sought the court’s help in allowing her son to travel there with “Gotham” co-star Ben McKenzie and their infant daughter.
Luckily for Baccarin, the court sided with her. In a hearing held on Thursday, the court said that Chick waited too long to object to the 3-year-old’s travel. The judge added that there was no reason to block the Brazil trip, since Baccarin already committed to hire top-notch security for her family and even double down inside the hotel to ensure their son’s health condition. The only good news for Chick is that he will be getting Julius on Christmas eve and day right before the kid flies off to Brazil.
Baccarin just gave birth to her daughter with McKenzie earlier this March, and they named her Francez Laiz Setta Schenkkan.
In November, McKenzie finally proposed to Baccarin and the two are “very happily engaged,” according to Us Weekly.
In the Fox show “Gotham,” McKenzie and Baccarin play Jim Gordon and Dr. Leslie “Lee” Thompkins, respectively.
