'Grace And Frankie' Reunion Announcement: Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin Struggle On Video Call [Watch]
"Grace and Frankie" stars Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin are all set to come together for a much-awaited reunion this week. They broke the news Monday via a now-viral Twitter video, in which the two actresses could be seen struggling with video calling.
"I think we're on mute," Fonda, 84, who played Grace in the popular Netflix series, said as they were doing FaceTime.
Tomlin, 83, who portrayed Frankie in the show, replied, "How can I put just you on mute?
The two actresses eventually figured out how to make the audio work, after which Tomlin asked if there was anything in her teeth.
Fonda jokingly answered, "Your entire breakfast, Frankie."
The special reunion, happening at 8 p.m. PT Friday, will be a live table read. The event will benefit Jane Fonda Climate PAC, which helps raise awareness of climate change. To watch it live, fans are supposed to contribute any amount starting from $22.
Further in the clip, Fonda talked about her "very treatable cancer," with which she was diagnosed last month. According to her, she would "not let any of this interfere" with social work.
"So, my dear friends, I have something personal I want to share. I've been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and have started chemo treatments," Fonda said, noting that 80% of people diagnosed with this cancer survive it, and it made her "feel very lucky."
"Grace and Frankie" came out in May 2015. Its final season was released in April this year. The show follows two rivals named Grace and Frankie. Things go in a different direction when they learn that their husbands are in love with each other.
Besides Fonda and Tomlin, the series also stars Sam Waterston, June Diane Raphael, Martin Sheen and Brooklyn Decker.
Fonda and Tomlin will be next seen together in "80 for Brady," a sports comedy film helmed by director Kyle Marvin and is expected to drop in February 2023.
Fonda will also appear in the movie "Book Club 2: The Next Chapter," which is coming out in time for Mother's Day next year. It is the sequel to the hit 2018 flick "Book Club."
As for Tomlin, she is also included in the cast of the 2022 movie "The Road Home," in which she plays the role of Mrs. Cambridge.
