Grace Vanderwaal Sings Original Song ‘Clay’ In ‘America’s Got Talent’ Season 11 Finals
Grace Vanderwaal has done it again! The 12-year-old singer performed her original song “Clay” during the finale of “America’s Got Talent” Season 11.
On Tuesday night, the Suffern native wore a beautiful knitted dress during her performance. The lyrics of her original song once again touched the hearts of all four judges, who commented that they believe her fans and the viewers of the hit NBC TV show will be able to relate to the song.
“I’m not trying to change my shape, but baby I’m not clay. I’m sorry not today coz baby I’m not clay,” she sang.
Following her performance, judge Howie Mandel praised his golden buzzer pick and called her “Amazing Grace,” according to Billboard. “It’s not only a song – it speaks to you. You are amazing. This is my favorite moment of the night,” he said. Spice Girls member Mel B gushed over Vanderwaal and said that the teenager was meant to be where she is today. Supermodel Heidi Klum compared the singer/composer to the rarest kind of diamond, and Simon Cowell predicted big things for her.
“People are going to look at you and say you did it in a real way. No gimmicks, it was just you. You deserve your place tonight. I don’t know what’s going to happen, but you’re going to be there at the end. I can feel it,” Cowell said.
Meanwhile, nine other contestants also performed on Tuesday night. According to NBC, NFL player and magician Jon Dorenbos talked about his past while doing an inspirational magic trick. The Clairvoyants surprised viewers with their shocking but on-point guesses, while Laura Bretan performed “O Mio Babbino Caro.” In the finale, Brian Justin Crum sang Michael Jackson’s “Man in the Mirror,” Sal Valentinetti sang “Mack the Knife,” while all-male group Linkin Bridge performed “See You Again.” Tape Face did a hilarious mime act, Viktor Kee performed a juggling routine using fie, and Sofie Dossi did another flawless contortion routine.
