  • Billboard said BTS proved their creativity is "as impressive as their musical talent"
  • The outlet hoped for future collaboration between Olivia Rodrigo and BTS
  • V had a fanboy moment as he met Lady Gaga at the Grammys

Billboard ranked the best musical performances at the 2022 Grammy Awards on Sunday, proclaiming BTS’ “Butter” as the best among 16 performances on the star-studded night.

“Smooth like butter, indeed. The Grammy-nominated septet took their 'criminal undercover' lyrics to a whole new level with their 007-inspired performance of their Billboard Hot 100-topping track,” Billboard described the group’s specially-choreographed performance at MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas.

“Jin, Jimin, V, RM, J-Hope, Suga and Jungkook dodged neon-blue lasers during a sleek choreography sequence and transformed the whole Grammys stage into a secret agent headquarters, proving that their creativity is equally as impressive as their musical talent,” Billboard added.

The outlet also mentioned the cozy moment between V and Olivia Rodrigo that received mixed reactions from the audience and fans, “Also that flirty moment between V and Olivia Rodrigo? Let’s hope he whispered a proposal for a future duet in her ear.”

Their performance was applauded by the audience who also rose to dance to the upbeat track which was earlier hailed Billboard’s 2021 Song of The Summer.

“All of them standing up & clapping for bts performance exactly,” a fan wrote alongside a clip showing the septet dancing to “Butter” with the audience jamming along with them.

The global sensation from South Korea was nominated for the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance but lost to Doja Cat and SZA for their song, “Kiss Me More.”

Meanwhile, V revealed in a live broadcast on VLive after the awards show that he adamantly approached Lady Gaga during the show.

“I said hello to Lady Gaga. She said that she really likes us and that she’s cheering for us,” V said during the broadcast.

The members of the boy band were impressed by V’s initiative to meet the artist whom they said they want to work with in the future. J-Hope quipped, “V went to take a photo with Lady Gaga by himself, and it was like wow!” But V clarified that he may seem confident in photos but it was a different story in reality.

“Do you know how many times I failed? I’m such a big fan, and I wanted to take a photo, but whenever I got the courage, I felt like it could be rude,” he said.

E! News tweeted photos of Lady Gaga and V meeting for the first time during the Grammys and wrote, "Ask and you shall receiveE! Earlier tonight #BTS told us that they wanted a collab with @ladygaga, and then this happened."
