'Grand Theft Auto 3,' 'Vice City,' 'San Andreas' Remakes, Not Remasters, Reportedly Coming Soon
KEY POINTS
- Rumors about "GTA Trilogy" getting some remasters are rife online
- This happened following Take-Two Interactive's latest financial report
- Take-Two Interactive confirmed three of the six games previously released will get new iterations
"Grand Theft Auto 5" continues to be a raging success. While Rockstar Games has not yet said anything about "GTA 6," a new rumor claims that the gaming studio is working on "Grand Theft Auto 3," "Vice City" and "San Andreas" ("GTA Trilogy") remakes.
It was rumored earlier that the games could get remasters.
A Reddit user, bobbynewbie, on Wednesday reshared a forum conversation between "GTA" fans and one of the Rockstar Games' staff, who goes by the name Mach1bud. The conversation seemingly suggests that the gaming studio is possibly remaking the original "GTA Trilogy," which are "GTA 3," "Vice City" and "San Andreas."
One Reddit user inquired if the term remake means the same as the remastered "Mafia" titles. Mach1bud confirmed this and noted that the games would look better than "GTA 5" but not as nice as "Red Dead Redemption 2." Unfortunately, the information is a little loose and does not offer a lot in regard to "GTA Trilogy."
Interestingly, Take-Two Interactive subtly offered some details about these rumored remakes. In its recent financial report, the company mentioned "new iterations of previously released titles," giving weight to "GTA Trilogy" rumors.
In a conference slide presented by the company, which was shared on Twitter by the user GTANet, Take-Two seemingly confirmed that three of the six games previously released would get new iterations. These include "Grand Theft Auto V: Expanded and Enhanced," "Grand Theft Auto Online" standalone and "Kerbal Space Program."
This leaves three more unannounced games getting new iterations, which could be the rumored "GTA Trilogy." The Twitter user highlighted, "Take-Two's conference slides have detailed what the six iterations of previously released titles were, including GTAV E&E, GTAO Standalone, Kerbal Space Program... and three unannounced."
Industry insider GTA 6 NEWS even stepped a little further by tweeting, "GRAND THEFT AUTO trilogy is confirmed silently once again. 'NEW iterations of previously released titles' are three unannounced."
Though they are interesting, these details are not official.
