‘Great News’ Season 2 Spoilers: Sneak Peeks For Episodes 7, 8 Released

NBC has dropped three sneak peeks from this week’s back-to-back episodes of “Great News.”

The first sneak peek shows a scene from Season 2, episode 7, titled “A Christmas Carol Wendelson.” The two-minute clip starts with Katie (Briga Heelan) arriving in the office with a big smile on her face. When Greg (Adam Campbell) asks why she’s so happy despite reporting to work on Christmas Day, Katie says, “That’s exactly why. Because we have to work, my mom can’t make Christmas perfect.”

“Maybe it won’t be perfect but it can still be nice,” Greg replies. “While we can’t be home for Christmas we can have a little Christmas here.”

Apparently, Greg has told the same thing to Carol (Andrea Martin) earlier in the day, and that has filled her with Christmas spirit. “If we can’t be home for Christmas then we can bring Christmas here,” Carol excitedly tells everyone as she gets out of the elevator. “In this box and in many others still in my car and in cabs I paid to follow me are all the things we need to celebrate.”

But instead of helping her mom with all the Christmas preparations, Katie volunteers to accompany Chuck (John Michael Higgins) to pick his son at the train station. While it’s unclear why Katie doesn’t want her mom to make Christmas perfect, the synopsis for the episode suggests that Carol has a tendency to drive everyone around her insane when she has too much Christmas spirit in her.

Meanwhile, the two other sneak peeks show scenes from Season 2, episode 8, titled “Sensitivity Training.” In the first promo video for the episode, Katie learns that her boyfriend Jeremy (Reid Scott) has sent her flowers. When Portia (Nicole Richie) asks why Jeremy gave her flowers, Katie reveals that it might be a sorry gift after he bailed on their date last night.

While Katie finds it sweet, Portia is suspicious of the gesture. “Guys only send flowers for three reasons: anniversary, Valentine’s day, got Amber Rose pregnant,” Portia explains.

When Katie admits that she has never been in Jeremy’s place and that he’s been secretive about phone calls, Portia concludes that the news program segment producer is just a sidepiece.” This guy has a girlfriend and you ain’t it,” Portia tells Katie.

In the second sneak peek from the episode, Katie tells Portia that she’s right. “Last night, I caught Jeremy talking to his girlfriend,” says Katie, before revealing that she just went home and ate ice cream cake after learning that Jeremy was cheating on her.

Concerned with how Katie is dealing with her recent breakup, Portia tells her, “Katie, you owe it to yourself and women everywhere to make him pay for what he did. But just remember if you kill him, he can’t live on to tell your stories.”

Elsewhere in the episode, according to the synopsis for the installment, Carol and Chuck don’t think they should have to attend Sensitivity Training and decide to teach the rest of the “snowflakes in the office” a lesson.

“Great News” Season 2, episodes 7 and 8 air back-to-back on Thursday, Dec. 21 at 8 p.m. EST on NBC.
