‘Great News’ Sneak Peek: Katie Finally Meets Greg’s Girlfriend Cat

Katie meets Greg’s girlfriend for the first time in this week’s episode of “Great News.”

In a sneak peek from Season 2, episode 10 of the NBC comedy, Greg’s (Adam Campbell) girlfriend Cat (Jayma Mays) approaches Katie (Briga Heelan) at “The Breakdown’s” headquarters and introduces herself.

“I’m Cat by the way. I don’t think we’ve met,” Cat tells Katie as she extends her arm for a handshake.

When Katie tells who she is, Cat shrieks with joy and immediately gives Katie a big hug.

“Greg, I met Katie,” an overjoyed Cat tells her boyfriend. “[The one] you’re always talking about.”

Greg refutes Cat’s claims, saying that he “seldom, never” talks about Katie. But that doesn’t stop Cat from telling Katie what Greg thinks about her. “He says such nice things about you. I mean he’s basically in love with you,” Cat tells Katie.

In an attempt to end the awkward moment, Greg invites Cat to lunch. But before the couple can leave, Carol shows up and suggests, “I have an idea why don’t the four of us go to lunch?”

While Greg and Katie don’t think it’s a good idea, Cat agrees to Carol’s suggestion.

According to the synopsis for the episode, Carol is frustrated by Greg and Katie’s adorable office flirtation. So in an attempt to show Katie her competition and get her to admit her feelings for her boss, Carol invites Cat to work. But Carol’s plan backfires when she is won over by Cat’s charms, sending Katie into a jealous spiral.

As seen in the promo photos for the episode, Cat drops by “The Breakdown” headquarters to surprise Greg for his birthday. The crew then celebrates Greg’s birthday at a karaoke bar, where Katie and Carol show off their singing chops. Greg and Cat also appear to perform a duet together.

Elsewhere in the episode, Chuck (John Michael Higgins) finds himself an unwitting champion of the alt right.

“Great News” Season 2, episode 10, titled “Catfight,” airs on Thursday, Jan. 4 at 9:30 p.m. EST on NBC. Watch the sneak peek below:
