‘Great News’ Sneak Peeks Tease Carol’s New Job, Tim Meadows’ Character
Carol starts her new job on “Morning Wined Up” in this week’s episode of “Great News.”
In a sneak peek from Season 2, episode 12 of the NBC comedy, Katie (Briga Heelan) watches an episode of “Morning Wined Up,” in which the hosts of the daytime program introduces Carol (Andrea Martin) as their newest PA.
“We sent Carol to see the new ‘Star Wars,’” says one of the hosts, who then asks Carol what she thinks of the movie.
“Well, I thought it was very scary,” Carol answers, “[especially] when the words jumped out at me at the beginning. I can’t read that fast. … The film was okay I guess. But there’s so much fighting. I didn’t like that Kylie Renner. Anyway, overall, I give it a five stars up.”
Carol’s charm makes Katie smiles. But the young Wendelson starts to feel bad for her mom when the hosts of the show start laughing at her.
“Since you like ‘Star Wars’ so much we thought you might like to be in ‘Star Wars,’” one of the hosts tells Carol as people dressed in Jedi and Stormtrooper costumes enter the set and start hitting Carol with toy Lightsabers.
“Oh god, they’re making fun of her,” a worried Katie says at the end of the clip.
In another sneak peek from the episode, Katie and Greg (Adam Campbell) meet with MMN’s attorney (Time Meadows) to discuss their next step after Fenton Pelt (Jim Rash) sued “The Breakdown” for a story they did about Pelt’s Smug Meadow Farms.
“It’s a terrible time to be an attorney for news organization who constantly being sued,” Meadows’ character says.
“So you’re used to this?” Greg asks.
“No, this is very bad,” the lawyer points out. “Fenton Pelt is a vindictive billionaire so if you wanna survive this, no more reporting on him or his companies.”
“No, we can’t give Penton Felt a free pass just because he’s suing us,” Katie says. “Besides Greg and I spent hours going over our reporting on Smug Meadow Farms [and] the facts on our side.”
While Katie is confident that their story is accurate, the attorney makes it clear that it doesn’t matter anymore.
Despite the attorney’s order to leave Fenton alone, Katie — in another sneak peek from the episode — delivers a rousing speech about journalistic integrity in an attempt to inspire her co-workers to continue reporting about Fenton.
But when she fails, Katie, according to the synopsis for the episode, reluctantly joins forces with Chuck (John Michael Higgins) who realizes that his investigative skills aren’t what they used to be.
“Great News” Season 2, episode 12, titled “The Fast Track,” airs on Thursday, Jan. 18 at 9:30 p.m. EST on NBC. Watch the sneak peeks below:
