‘Great News’ Video: Katie Reunites With Her Old Friend In New Jersey

Katie’s old friend is not convinced that the she’s enjoying her life in New York.

In a sneak peek from tonight’s Season 2, episode 5 of NBC’s “Great News,” Katie (Briga Heelan) attends the gender-reveal shower of her old friend Jessica (Cecily Strong). But their happy reunion quickly becomes awkward when Jessica starts to ask about Katie’s New York life.

“How are you?” Jessica asks the “Breakdown” senior associate producer. “When are you gonna move back to New Jersey like the rest of us?”

“Honestly, I’m just having too much fun,” Katie replies. “I mean, you remember what it’s like living in Manhattan? Going out, getting wild … The point is I love my New York life.”

“Really?” Jessica asks. “Because it seems like from your Instagram you’re always laying in bed trying to win some #CrazyForDoritos contest.”

The synopsis for the episode revealed that Jessica’s comments prompt Katie to impress her old friends on Instagram with the cool New York lifestyle. But because she isn’t really living the hip New York lifestyle, Katie reaches out to Portia (Nicole Richie)for help.

“I need to go to that Halloween party with you,” Katie tells Portia in a previously released sneak peek from the episode.

But Portia doesn’t think it’s a good idea. “This party is not for you, Katie,” Portia says. “You have to have an expensive one of a kind costume.”

When Katie promises that her costume is gonna be just as good as what Portia’s currently wearing, Portia reveals that her fortune teller getup isn’t really her complete outfit for the bash.

“This is my costume,” Portia says, revealing a giant magic crystal ball that goes with her attire. “Katie, you’re trying to have a life that does not belong to you … Turn back, before it’s too late.”

Funnily enough, Portia quickly changes her mind when Katie reveals that she wants to go to the party so they can take a selfie together.

Elsewhere in the episode, Chuck (John Michael Higgins) has been asked to use a new smart screen on “The Breakdown.” But in an attempt to get out of this seemingly impossible task, Chuck tries to convince Carol (Andrea Martin) that it is possessed.

“Great News” Season 2, episode 5, titled “Night of the Living Screen,” airs tonight at 9:30 p.m. EDT on NBC.
