The Green Bay Packers are as hot as any NFL team that isn’t undefeated in the 2019 season. With a Week 9 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers looming, Aaron Rodgers and Co. should continue to roll Sunday afternoon.

Green Bay is a three-point favorite in Los Angeles, according to the early betting line at OddsShark. The over/under is 46.

The Packers were 4.5-point favorites in Week 8 when they visited another AFC West team. Green Bay won straight up and against the spread in primetime, beating Matt Moore and the Kansas City Chiefs 31-24.

Are the Chargers definitively better than the Chiefs, even without Patrick Mahomes? Probably not, considering Los Angeles is 3-5 at the season’s midway point.

The Chargers beat the Chicago Bears in Week 8, escaping with an upset after Eddy Pineiro missed a 41-yard field goal as time expired. Los Angeles’ two other victories are a Week 4 win in Miami and a 30-24 overtime win over the Indianapolis Colts in the season opener.

That means since Week 1, the Chargers have only beaten Josh Rosen and Mitchell Trubisky. In Week 9, Los Angeles is tasked with stopping one of the all-time great quarterbacks that might be on his way toward winning a third MVP award.

Rodgers became the MVP favorite with yet another brilliant performance in Week 8. During Green Bay’s four-game winning streak, the veteran has thrown for 1,255 yards, 10 touchdowns and one interception. Rodgers has an average passer rating of 115.6 in those games.

It hasn’t hurt that Aaron Jones has performed like an elite running back during that stretch, totaling 271 rushing yards and 280 receiving yards.

The Packers rank eighth in yards per play. The Chargers are 20th in opponents’ yards per play.

There is little evidence to suggest Los Angeles’ offense can keep pace with Rodgers and Green Bay. The Chargers have scored more than 20 points just once in their last eight games. They scored 30 points against the Dolphins, who have given up the most points in the NFL.

The Chargers haven’t given Philip Rivers very good protection. It’s part of why he’s got 12 touchdown passes, seven interceptions and a 92.5 passer rating.

The Packers are eighth in opponents’ passer rating.

Los Angeles might have the NFL’s worst home-field advantage. The Chargers haven’t covered one spread in their own stadium this season.

Green Bay is 3-0 on the road straight up and against the spread.

Prediction: Green Bay over Los Angeles 24-17
