“Grey’s Anatomy” and “Station 19” aired back-to-back all fall, but that won’t be the case in January. The doctors will return to ABC much sooner than the firefighters.

The midseason premiere of “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 15 will air Thursday, Jan. 17 at 8 p.m. EST. However, it will not be followed by the return of “Station 19” Season 2. Instead, “A Million Little Things” will take its place, followed by “How to Get Away With Murder.”

“Station 19” fans will have to wait until March to see the firefighters again. “Station 19” Season 2 returns Thursday, March 7 at 9 p.m. EST, followed by “For The People.”

“A Million Little Things” breaks up the Shondaland lineup. However, it shows that ABC wants the drama to succeed. Clearly, they’re hoping that some of the 6.7 million “Grey’s Anatomy” fans start watching the freshman show, which follows a group of friends after a suicide. “A Million Little Things” has averaged only 3.6 million in its 10 p.m. EST slot on Wednesdays.

“Station 19” fared better in its Thursday slot. It averaged over 5.2 million viewers each week, according to TV Series Finale.

Both “Grey’s Anatomy” and its spinoff have some major cliffhangers to resolve. “Station 19” left off with Sullivan and Andy in a serious ambulance crash while the docs at Grey Sloan have a ton of drama. Meredith has a new love triangle and a patient stuck in an elevator during a power outage. Teddy just told Owen about her pregnancy, and Glasses and Nico hooked up in an ambulance. Fans will have to wait to see how each TV show resolves these big twists.
