‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 12 Spoilers: Actress Teases ‘Hot Relationship,’ Reveals Which Characters Will Get ‘Busy’
The weather might be starting to cool but things are only beginning to heat up for our favorite, scrub-donning characters on “Grey’s Anatomy.” According to reports, the Season 12 plot of the hit ABC series will sizzle with drama and lust when the Shonda Rhimes-created show returns to the small screen in September.
During an interview with Variety, Debbie Allen, who play the vivacious character Dr. Catherine Avery, unveiled that one Grey Sloan couple will have a hot and heavy storyline during the upcoming installment.
“We’ll just say that we are giving new life to sexy over 50,” she teased, revealing that her character, a newly married surgeon, and Catherine’s beau, Dr. Richard Webber (James Pickens, Jr.) would be embarking on a spicy, new journey in Season 12. “We have a very hot relationship. Richard has got her busy.”
In the Season 11 finale of “Grey’s Anatomy,” titled “You’re My Home,” Catherine and Richard kicked off the installment on a rocky note. In fact, their bickering even caused Catherine to slide off her engagement ring – in front of the whole hospital! But Meredith (Ellen Pompeo), who recently lost her husband Derek (Patrick Dempsey) in a tragic accident, reminded the two that life is short.
“Whatever it is that’s coming between you two, will you please just figure it out?” she asked. “Figure it out.”
And so they did.
The couple exchanged vows in front of all their family and friends. But according to Jason George, who plays Dr. Bailey’s (Chandra Wilson) hunky husband Dr. Ben Warren, Catherine and Richard won’t be the only duo getting hot and heavy on “Grey’s Anatomy.”
“[The writers] hit reboot almost,” the actor told People magazine, explaining that “Grey’s Anatomy” will return to its roots in the forthcoming installment. “There’s a lot of things that make [Season 12] feel brand new, but it has that lightness and sense of humor that people fell in love with in the first place. And the sexy sexy is back on.”
George even teased that fans should expect “a lot of people who are not in couples” to fall into bed with on another. “Everyone’s getting a little bit of loving,” he said, peeking our interest even more.
“Grey’s Anatomy” will return with its sexy Season 12 premiere on Thursday, Sept. 24, at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
