‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 12 Spoilers: ‘Reign’ Actor Giacomo Gianniotti To Star In New Season
Season 11 of “Grey’s Anatomy” might not be over but we’re already looking forward to the steamy story line of Season 12 -- especially after this recent, red hot casting announcement. According to reports, an easy-on-the-eyes actor has just been cast to appear in Season 12 of the hit ABC series. Curious what hunk will be strutting down the halls of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital? Well, TVLine dished that actor Giacomo Gianniotti has landed a (possible) recurring role.
If the name sounds familiar it’s because Gianniotti is no stranger to TV. The 25-year-old Italian actor has starred on the beloved CW drama “Reign” as Lord Julien/Remy, the con-artist husband of Lola (Anna Popplewell) who took on the identity of the wealthy Lord following the noble’s fiery death. He’s also graced the small screen in other projects like “Beauty and the Beast,” “Murdoch Mysteries,” the one-season series “Selfie,” and his most recent project, “The Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe” mini-series.
Although Gianniotti’s Season 12 appearance on the long-running Shonda Rhimes’ medical drama has been confirmed by his rep, his role on the show remains a mystery -- even more mysterious then Derek’s (Patrick Dempsey) current whereabouts. (Derek went missing in episode 19 of “Grey’s Anatomy.” His disappearance will play a large part in the remaining episodes of Season 11.)
It was speculated that Gianniotti would slip into a pair of scrubs during the twelfth season of the show, starring as an intern. That’s right, “Grey’s Anatomy” might be going back to it’s roots by driving attention towards the newbies instead of solely focusing on the drama of the hospital’s residents, attendings and chief.
While ABC has not yet officially renewed “Grey’s Anatomy” for a Season 12, sources revealed to TVLine in May that cast members Justin Chambers, Sara Ramirez, Chandra Wilson and James Pickens Jr. had all signed a contract to appear on the show until the twelfth installment. Could Gianniotti’s casting be the Season 12 confirmation fans were looking for?
