Ground Beef Recall 2020: Plastic Contamination Forces Meat Recall
In another recall for ground beef contaminated with foreign materials, Amity Packing Company Inc. has recalled 2,020 pounds of raw ground beef that may be contaminated with clear, thin pliable plastic.
The affected ground beef was produced on Jan. 6 and is packaged in one-pound vacuum-packed packages labeled as Pre 95% Lean/5% fat ground beef. The recalled meat has a lot code of 0060 and a case code of 11403.
The contaminated meat also has a Use/Freeze by date of 01/31/2020 located on the product label. The establishment number is EST. 6916 located on the right, front side of the package. Labels of the recalled ground beef can be viewed here.
Amity shipped the recalled ground beef to retail locations in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
Consumers are urged to check their refrigerators and freezers for the recalled ground beef. It should not be consumed. The meat should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

According to the company, the contamination issue was discovered after two consumer complaints. Amity has not received any reports of adverse reactions to the affected meat.
