'GTA 6' Speculations Triggered By Newly Leaked Email
KEY POINTS
- Rockstar Games is currently working on a new version of "GTA 5" for Xbox Series XlS and PS5
- A newly leaked email triggered rumors that the gaming studio is also working on "GTA 6"
- To this day, Rockstar Games has not yet confirmed that it is working on the heavily rumored title
An email sent by Rockstar Games has been leaked online recently, intensifying speculations and rumors about the much-anticipated "GTA 6."
On Twitter, music producer Chiko Kan shared a screenshot of an email reportedly sent by Richard Barnes, Rockstar Games' Head of International Communications. In the alleged correspondence, the executive invites the music producer to aid in curating music for the team's upcoming projects in 2021. The email further notes that while it can reveal much about these projects, one of them is going to be "HUGE."
While the email seems interesting and could easily persuade some "GTA 6" fans that one of the projects could be the much-awaited sequel, it has several red flags, as Gamerant pointed out. It turns out Richard Barnes left Rockstar Games in 2019. This could mean the email was sent before he exited the company, probably before 2019.
Meanwhile, Reddit user bozidarilic pointed out that the color of the texts in the third paragraph mentioning Rockstar Games is slightly different from the rest of the text color in the email.
The projects the gaming studio is working on, if accurate, might be referring to "Red Dead Online" and "Grand Theft Auto Online," Gamerant noted. As for Kan's involvement, it is possible that it has something to do with the biggest musical update launched in "GTA Online" a few weeks earlier, the site explained.
Rockstar Games launched a new underground nightclub called The Music Locker in "GTA Online." This introduced several world-class DJs in the game like Palms Trax, Moodymann, Keinemusik and many others. There is a great chance that Chiko Kan is working on the same project, the site added.
While there are lots of holes in the leak, it did not stop the tweet from making rounds online. As of writing, Kan has not yet responded to criticisms against the reportedly leaked email. Like all other "GTA 6" leaks, fans should temper their expectations and take this information with a pinch of salt.
Rockstar Games has not yet revealed anything related to "GTA 6." Rumors have it that the game is in development for new generation gaming consoles.
