‘Guardians Of The Galaxy 2’ End Credits Scene Confirmed By Director James Gunn
Some Marvel movies buck the trend of end credits clips. Most recently, Twentieth Century Fox’s “Logan” ditched the scene post credits, but it sounds like Marvel Studios’ “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” will stick to tradition.
Director James Gunn was asked by a fan if there would be both a mid credits and post credits scene in the next Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie. Gunn wouldn’t say anything about two clips, but he seemed to indicate that there is at least an exciting clip at the very end of the film.
Post credits scenes in the MCU often foreshadow other films. “Spider-Man: Homecoming” and “Thor: Ragnarok” are set to come out later this year. Of course, the Guardians themselves will next be seen in “Avengers: Infinity War,” which has already started shooting.
However, Gunn skipped foreshadowing in his end credits clips last time. In the first “Guardians of the Galaxy,” the mid credits scene was of Baby Groot dancing in his pot. The final scene showed a rather obscure comic book character, Howard the Duck, in the Collector’s (Benicio Del Toro) destroyed museum. Will Gunn pull another forgotten comic book persona for the sequel’s scene? Fans will have to wait until May to see what he decided.
Perhaps the clip will have something to do with MCU’s ultimate villain, Thanos. It seems like possibility since his daughters play a big part in this film. Gunn told Cinema Blend that audiences should expect to see more of Nebula (Karen Gillan) and Gamora’s (Zoe Saldana) dynamic.
“It’s about Nebula’s relationship with her sister, Gamora, and how that’s not all that we saw in the first movie,” Gunn teased. “It’s a lot deeper and more complicated than that. We thought in the first movie that Gamora was the good guy, and Nebula’s the bad guy, but that really isn’t the whole story.”
“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” will hit theaters May 5.
