Gucci and Ralph Lauren Leads Bing’s 2011 List of Most Searched Fashion Brands
Based on the aggregation of search queries by Microsoft's Bing search engine, high-end luxury brands Gucci and Ralph Lauren are the two most searched fashion brands online.
The annual search, conducted by Bing, presented a detailed study of a variety of searches that marked the current year's most important people, places and moments in time.
This has been the second year in a row that Gucci, an Italian luxe brand, has secured the top position as the most searched fashion brand. Also included in the list are designer brands and couture houses like Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Guess and Burberry.
Another intriguing name in the list is that of ex-Dior designer John Galliano, who was earlier fired from the fashion house due to his controversial Anti-Semitic remarks in a Paris Café.
Galliano, known for his dramatic and iconic creations, is still a favorite among many and has recently launched his first official online store containing key pieces from the Galliano Fall 2011/12 RTW and Accessories collections.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the research suggests how big a role these luxury brands play in the consciousness of consumers - most of whom are more likely to actually shop at Zara than Louis Vuitton (which ranked fourth in internet searches).
The complete list in ascending order as published by Bing is: Gucci, Ralph Lauren, Y-3, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Guess, J.Crew, Coco Chanel, John Galliano and Burberry.
