People dressed as Smurfs posed for photographs during a promotional event for the film, The Smurfs, in Mexico City on Saturday. Promoters for the film gathered volunteers dressed as Smurfs to take part in a Global Guinness World Record attempt for the most people dressed as Smurfs -- ever.

In order to qualify, fans were required to paint themselves blue, wear a white Smurf hat, white pants and a blue T-shirt.

The 2011 film, The Smurf's stars Neil Patrick Harris, Jayman Mays, Hank Azaria, George Lopez, Jonathan Winters, and pop singer Katy Perry as the voice of Smurfette. The film is scheduled to hit theatres this summer.
