Les Paul, 94, a Grammy Award-winning guitar virtuoso and inventor, died today at a hospital in White Plains, N.Y.
The cause was complications of pneumonia, Gibson Guitar announced.
Les Paul pioneered the solid-body electric guitar, multitrack recording and was a very talented player.
Paul’s style encompassed the twang of country music, the harmonic richness of jazz and he also blended in some ock ’n’ roll.
His main goal in life, he said, was to make people happy. This, he sure did.
