Gwen Stefani Speaks Up About Leaving 'The Voice' For 'American Idol'
Gwen Stefani may or may not join "American Idol."
Stefani has been with "The Voice" for a number of seasons already. In fact, she found the new love of her life, Blake Shelton, on the show. However, she's not returning to the show this fall, so she was asked if she is willing to leave the reality singing competition to join the "American Idol" reboot on ABC.
"That would, like, I don't know," the singer-songwriter told E! News. "You never know what could happen. You just never know...but I doubt it."
At the time, only Katy Perry has signed on to judge the upcoming ABC rebooted series. When Stefani was asked if she will still decline if the network offers her the same $25 million Perry gets, the "Hollaback Girl" singer did not commit.
"I think she got all the money!" Stefani said with a laugh. "I think there's no more left!"
On the other hand, there are rumors suggesting that Charlie Puth, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie may join Perry on the show. However, the negotiations have not started yet.
Among the three, Richie has the highest chances as he is reportedly the "internal favorite." Meanwhile, Bryan is also likely to get a seat at the panel because the network has an inclination to his kind of music. The Disney-owned network is home to the Country Music Awards. Meanwhile, Puth has the least possibility to join the reality show. However, E! News noted that Perry wants the "We Don't Talk Anymore" singer and Richie to join her on the show.
But if the former "American Idol" producer Nigel Lythgoe will be asked, he wants Bruno Mars to join the rebooted series. "The biggest star in my mind at the moment is Bruno Mars. I think Bruno is fantastic. I don't know if he'd do it," he told Entertainment Tonight. However, he added a disclaimer that Mars being "a great performer doesn't necessarily make him a great judge."
In related news, Adam Lambert, who was a runner-up to Kris Allen in Season 8, has expressed his interest in joining the show, too. "When ['American Idol'] was on Fox, I was there every season. I would come on and do something and I owe the show great debt of gratitude. I love the show. I think it's great. I would love to come back and pop in," he told ET. But noone had reached out to him at the time.
How likely is it that ABC will ask Stefani to join its rebooted series now that she's not coming back on "The Voice"? Share your thoughts below.
