  • Erling Haaland joined Man City this summer
  • City paid around $61 million to Dortmund for Haaland
  • Haaland had netted 29 goals last season for the German club

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland was unsatisfied with the two goals he scored on his Premier League debut on Sunday.

Haaland announced his arrival in England with a 36th-minute penalty before he doubled Manchester City's lead with a strike in the second half at London Stadium. While the Premier League champions started off the new campaign with a 2-0 win over West Ham, their new signing believed they should have scored more.

"It was good. [It was a] good start there is nothing much to say other than that and it was 2-0. Good to get some minutes in the legs early in the season and we have to keep going. As expected we saw the potential against Bayern [Munich in pre-season] and it was a bit down against Liverpool. It will come with games, it should have been more today," Haaland said in a post-match interview, according to Goal.com.

Manchester City signed Haaland from Borussia Dortmund for $61 million this summer. They hope the Norwegian can emulate the success he tasted in Germany and Austria previously.

When reporters asked him if he should have scored a hat-trick against West Ham, Man City's new No. 9 replied, "Yes. I should have been there [to connect with Ilkay Gundogan's cross]. It's sh*t, but that's how it is!"

After being reminded to watch his language, an embarrassed Haaland mistakenly replied, "Oh sh*t, sorry."

The Norway national then added, "It's about the connections we do every day in training and practicing so we get better and this will come. There were some good celebrations so I'm happy. Nice that he [Dad – Alfie] saw both goals as it is a big moment for me as a debutant in this competition. Also now it is almost 30 minutes since I scored the last goal so I have to keep going."

Haaland suffered from various injury problems last season at Dortmund and he managed 29 goals in 30 competitive appearances. In the campaign before that, Haaland finished with an incredible 41 goals in 41 matches for Dortmund. He, along with now-Manchester United player Jadon Sancho, had played a key role when Dortmund won DFB-Pokal, a domestic trophy in German soccer.

Manchester City's next game of the 2022-23 Premier League is a home fixture against Bournemouth, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday.
