Hailey, Justin Bieber ‘Had Been Talking For A While’ Before 2018 Reconciliation, Model Says

Hailey Bieber quashed rumors that her relationship with now-husband Justin Bieber overlapped with his time with Selena Gomez.

During her appearance on Ashley Graham’s podcast “Pretty Big Deal,” the model clarified some misconceptions regarding her relationship and reconciliation with the Canadian crooner in 2018. During that year, Justin was also linked to his ex, Gomez, after they were spotted together multiple times.

“People don't know, too, we had been talking for a while before we got back together. Contrary to popular belief, he had been single for a while and I had been single and we were kind of just trying to figure life out," Hailey explained.

"Everything happened really fast, I think everybody knows that. Everybody was kind of, like, 'Hey, did you get married?'" she added.

Gomez and Justin prompted reconciliation speculation in 2017 while the Disney Channel alum was in a relationship with The Weeknd. After 10 months of dating, Gomez and the “Starboy” singer called it quits.

Fans speculated that Gomez and The Weeknd broke up because she was spotted spending time with Justin, attending church together and grabbing breakfast. The “Wizards of the Waverly Place” actress was even photographed at one of Justin’s hockey games wearing his New Jersey Devils hockey jersey.

"Justin is happy Selena is single. He hopes to regain her trust so they can get back together,” an unnamed source told People in November 2017.

The romance continued until 2018. In March, Gomez posted a sweet message on social media for Justin's birthday. A few days later, reports claimed that they attended church but didn’t sit together.

Justin was seen with model Baskin Champion two months later, while sources said that Gomez had moved on from him. At the time, Hailey attended the 2018 Met Gala with Shawn Mendes, who later said they were just “really good friends.”

By June, Justin and Hailey seemed to have patched things up after they were photographed hanging out a couple of times. A month later, he popped the question in the Bahamas and they tied the knot in September at a New York City courthouse.

Justin and Hailey exchanged wedding vows in front of their family and friends the following year at a luxury resort in South Carolina.
