Hallmark Channel ‘The Christmas Cottage’ Premiere: Meet The Cast, Watch Trailer
There’s nothing cozier than a cottage at Christmastime, and of course Hallmark knows that. That’s why its new Countdown to Christmas film, “The Christmas Cottage,” which stars Merritt Patterson and Steve Lund and premieres tonight, takes place in one.
Patterson only has one Hallmark movie under her belt, the romantic “A Royal Winter,” which came out earlier this year, but luckily she’s back for round two.
Lund kicked off his Hallmark career in 2014 with “Best Christmas Party Ever,” then followed it up with 2015’s “Christmas Incorporated.” While he didn’t have a movie out on the network in 2016, he’s made up for it in 2017 by having two movies. He starred in “The Art of Us,” an adaptation of Teri Wilson’s novel of the same name, back in May, and is now in this new Christmas movie.
Without further ado, let’s get right down to this new movie on the way.
“Taking a rare break from her career designing modern buildings, Lacey (Patterson) travels to her friend Ava’s (Brittney Wilson) Christmas Eve wedding,” the synopsis starts. “Though her business partner and boyfriend Roger (Victor Zinck) is concerned about her taking time off right before an important sales pitch, Lacey promises to work in between her maid of honor duties.”
When Lacey gets to the cottage where she and Ava spent a lot of their childhood holidays, she’s welcome by Ava, Ava’s brother Ean (Lund) and Ava’s fiancé Mason (Carey Feehan). It’s a little bit awkward between Lacey and Ean because they dated for a bit before parting to go after their respective dreams. But, it’s Ava’s wedding season, so they make do.
“As maid of honor and best man, Lacey and Ean are tasked with decorating the cottage where Ava and Mason will spend their honeymoon, a cottage said to bring true love to anyone who stays there,” the synopsis teases. "After decorating, Lacey and Ean are snowed into the cottage, sending Lacey into a panic without her work laptop. Ean helps her find the bright side of the situation, and the two spend the evening reminiscing about their past relationship in the cozy cottage.”
The two spend more and more time together as the wedding events continue, and Ean spills to Lacey that he’s tired of moving around from place to place and is ready to settle down. She understands this, but knows how much he would still want to continue his passion with food, so she sketches him a restaurant design.
Later, Roger surprises Lacey by arriving to town early, sending her back into workaholic mode and retreating from Ean a bit.
“Her time with Ean has left a lasting impression, though, and she tries to infuse cozy elements into the project’s minimalist designs,” the synopsis continues. “She even takes a break from work to join Ava, Ean and the rest of the bridal party at the tree lighting in town.”
Ean ends up confessing his romantic feelings to Lacey, but she has too much going on with the wedding and Roger to give him the response he wants. He decides that he’s going to leave for Finland for a job, which leaves Lacey to decide whether "the professional goals she shares with Roger or the connection and history she shares with Ean are more important in a lasting relationship.”
See “The Christmas Cottage” on Hallmark Channel on Saturday at 8 p.m. EST.
