After a 13-year-long wait, Microsoft has announced that “Halo 3” will arrive on PC on July 14. This is part of “The Master Chief Collection.”
“Halo 3” was first released on the Xbox 360 all the way back in 2007. It was developed by Bungie and published by Microsoft Game Studios as a first-person shooter. The story of the game centers on the interstellar war between twenty-sixth-century humanity, a collection of alien races known as the Covenant, and the alien parasite Flood.
The player assumes the role of the Master Chief, a cybernetically enhanced supersoldier, who must battle both the Covenant and the Flood.
TechRadar reports that PC gamers will be able to buy “Halo 3” from the Microsoft Store or Steam, and it will also be available for free as part of Microsoft’s Xbox Games Pass for PC service.
“The Master Chief’s iconic journey includes six games, built for PC and collected in a single integrated experience where each game is delivered over time," says the official announcement." Whether you’re a long-time fan or meeting Spartan 117 for the first time, “The Master Chief Collection” is the definitive Halo gaming experience.”
“Halo 3,” which joins “Halo: Reach,” “Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary,” and “Halo 2: Anniversary” in “The Master Chief Collection,” has been optimized for PC. This means support for up to 4K UHD resolutions and 60 fps.
Other native PC settings include customizable mouse and keyboard support, FOV customization, and support for Ultrawide displays, says Steam’s Halo 3 listing,

To run the game, your PC has to have Windows 7 or newer. It needs to pack at the minimum an Intel Core i7–975 or AMD A12-9800 APU, 2GB RAM, and GeForce GTS 450 or Radeon R7 graphics. Regarding storage, you'll need 55GB of hard drive space free in order to install “Halo 3” on your machine.
To further whet the Halo fans’ collective appetites, TechRadar notes that 343 Industries has confirmed that it will show off the newest Halo installment, “Halo Infinite,” during Microsoft's Xbox Games Studios event on July 24. That game is targeted to release later this year as one of the premier titles of the new Xbox Series X from Microsoft.
