“Halo 5: Guardians” is looking at a more enhanced narration and storytelling if recent updates and marketing campaigns are to be believed. 343 Industries unveiled a video documentary for “Halo 5: Guardians” that traces the creation of the game.

In the 12-minute ViDoc seen below, the 343 Industries team touches on the main points of where this year’s installment is going. There is more gameplay footage, but for the most part, “Halo 5: Guardians” looks into the way the two teams, led by Master Chief and Spartan Locke, go about their stories.

343 Industries points out an interesting positioning for the characters for “Halo 5: Guardians.” The two teams are very different from each other. While the Master Chief is leading a team he has known for a long time, Locke is leading a new team that has equality as its banner. The encounter and the way these dynamics will play out add extra depth to the game.

Not only did the developers consider how the story will progress, but the very existence of the Xbox One and its capability presented a whole new way the team could tackle the creation of the game. However, the innovation goes beyond the hardware. The developers emphasize the team took risks to establish a new "Halo" game that could be the beginning of a new direction for the franchise.

The developer also revealed via the Xbox Wire an animated adaptation of “Halo: The Fall of Reach” will be released. Players who already have the Digital Deluxe Edition, the Limited Edition and the Limited Collector’s Edition will have access to the series. However, the Halo Channel will also carry the series once the game launches in October. As a quick backgrounder, the animated series will look into the Spartan program and the formation of the Master Chief’s team.

Finally, as an add-on, the second season for "Hunt the Truth" has been confirmed. In September, the follow-up season for Microsoft’s viral marketing campaign and accessory storytelling for “Halo 5: Guardians” will run until the Oct. 27 release of the game, IGN reported.

"Hunt the Truth" has enjoyed quite the following among fans, with Microsoft previously revealing viewers have tuned into the podcasts 2.15 million times, contributing to the overall 960,000 mentions and references “Halo 5: Guardians” has enjoyed since then. It had delved into the journey of fictional investigative journalist Benjamin Giraud and his goal of uncovering the truth behind conspiracies and cover-ups involving the Master Chief.
