‘Handmaid’s Tale’ Season 2 Spoilers: Episode 12 Synopsis, Video And Photos Revealed
Offred was so close to getting out, but her labor ruined yet another escape plan in last week’s episode of “The Handmaid’s Tale.” After realizing that she didn’t have a way of leaving the house and giving birth to her daughter, Offred fired a shot gun to call attention to the house. Season 2, episode 12 will show what happened to Offred after she was found.
“Offred is sent to a familiar place,” Hulu’s synopsis teases. The promo video makes it very clear that Offred (Elisabeth Moss) is back in Gilead, much to Serena Joy’s (Yvonne Strahovski) dismay.
Serena made it very clear that she didn’t want Offred to stick around after the birth. She didn’t even want Offred directly breastfeeding her child. “Did you let her touch my child?” Serena asks the Commander (Joseph Fiennes) angrily. He promises he didn’t, but Serena is still irate that he brought their handmaid back to the house.
Elsewhere in the trailer for “The Handmaid’s Tale,” Nick (Max Minghella) is seen with the Commander, who speaks about the men having each other’s backs. The video also reveals that Eden (Sydney Sweeney) is missing. Where could she possibly be?
“Nick is rocked by Gilead’s brutal response to a crime,” the synopsis teases. It looks like he isn’t the only one disturbed. Offred and even her assaulters look shocked to see something as well. Gilead loves a public punishment.
Finally, fans will also get to see what Emily (Alexis Bledel) is up to. “Emily is assigned to a mysterious new house,” the logline reveals.
Obviously, Emily has quite a reputation at this point. Several families have turned her away, but Lydia (Ann Dowd) will bring her to a strange man, Commander Lawrence (Bradley Whitford), who is a big deal in the Republic of Gilead.
“We’re not sure where this guy is coming from," executive producer Warren Littlefield told TV Guide. “He is an economic architect of Gilead, and yet he has regrets. He’s in a complicated marriage, and Emily is assigned to be a handmaid at his household. He just doesn’t play by any of the rules, and so we are whipsawed with his character, wondering, ‘Good guy? Bad guy? I’m not sure.’ And that plays to a wonderful conclusion in Season 2.”
Episode 12, titled “Postpartum,” is the penultimate episode of “The Handmaid’s Tale” Season 2. The Hulu drama will wrap up for the season next week.
“The Handmaid’s Tale” Season 2, episode 12 releases Wednesday at 12 a.m. EDT on Hulu.
