Hanna Andersson Recall: Brand Pulls Thousands Of Baby Clothes Over Choking Hazard

Hanna Andersson has issued two voluntary recalls of its baby clothes because they may pose a choking hazard. It affects the "Baby Ruffle Rompers" and "Baby Long Sleeve Wiggle Sets."

The snaps on the products can actually get detached, thereby posing a possible choking hazard to young children.

"The interlining of this garment did not properly adhere to the product, therefore the snaps do not have the necessary reinforcement," Hanna Andersson explained. "This may cause the snaps to tear through the fabric and become loose and detach, becoming a choking hazard."

In the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recall alert for the Baby Ruffle Rompers, the agency noted that there have been three reports of the "snaps detaching or fabric around the snaps ripping," but fortunately there have been no reports of the children putting the snaps in their mouths.

There has also been one report of the detachment in the Baby Long Sleeve Wiggle Sets, but no reports of injuries or of children putting the snaps in their mouths, the agency noted in the alert for the product.

"We are not aware of any injuries related to this garment but are taking this action in an abundance of caution," Hanna Andersson noted.

Both products were exclusively sold online through the Hanna Andersson website from July to October this year.

In the case of the Baby Ruffle Rompers, they come in three colors with a polka dot pattern: Petal Pink, Golden Hour and Juniper. They have 66919 noted on the label at the neck and have metal snaps from the neckline to the center of the romper.

The recall affects about 3,200 units of the products, CPSC noted, adding that some of the products were also sold in Canada.

As for the Baby Long Sleeve Wiggle Sets, they come as a top and pants set in three designs: petal pink with a floral pattern, golden hour with polka dots and navy blue with turtle prints. Affected products have 66938 written on the main label.

Some 4,400 units of the product are affected by the recall, some of which were also sold in Canada.

Images of the affected Hanna Andersson products are available in the safety recall announcement on its website. Those who may have bought it are being advised to stop letting their children use it "immediately" and instead to contact the company to get a full refund.

"Hanna Andersson will be providing postage-paid labeling to consumers for the return of the product for a full refund," the CPSC noted."Hanna Andersson is contacting all known purchasers directly."

"We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused to you," the company noted. "Your child's safety is of paramount concern to us."
