'Hannibal' Season 3 Spoilers: Would Dr. Lecter Kill Bedelia? Will Graham Causes Problems For Couple In The Premiere
Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) has a new partner crime in “Hannibal” Season 3. The serial killer fled to Italy with his psychiatrist, Bedelia (Gillian Anderson), after the carnage of the Season 2 finale. In the big season premiere the duo will be posing as a married couple and a recent promo picture featuring Bedelia includes the menacing caption, “You may now worship the bride.” However, Bedelia could actaully end up being Hannibal’s next victim, instead of his partner.
Though the trailers for the new episode show Hannibal and Bedelia living it up in Italy, attending lavish balls and throwing deadly dinner parties together, Mikkelsen says a dangerous dynamic undercuts the façade marriage.
"We touch on what their past was and how Bedelia got herself in this situation," Mikkelsen told TV Guide. "Let's put it this way: It's not a healthy relationship. It's distant but also intimate in a way. It's a brother-sister relationship that is not healthy."
What’s the cause of all the unhappiness (other than the obvious murder and mayhem)? Well, Hannibal has some unresolved feelings about Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) that he will be taking out on his shrink.
"As much as Will Graham can forgive Hannibal his trespasses, Hannibal may not be as easy to forgive Will," executive producer Bryan Fuller told TV Guide. "And the resulting therapy with Dr. Du Maurier, the recommendations of how to deal with those feelings, is pretty brutal."
Would Hannibal actually hurt Bedelia? In one frightening scene from the "Bride of Hannibal" promo, the cannibal killer himself poses the question to his new bride while she points a loaded gun at him. She does not seem to be so confident that her new groom will not cross the line.
