Happy Birthday, Susan Lucci: 'All My Children' Actress is 65
Actress Susan Lucci, known for her portrayal of Erica Kane on the long-running soap opera All My Children, is 65 years old.
Lucci was famously nominated multiple times for a Daytime Emmy award until she finally won in 1999. The standing ovation she received lasted several minutes.
I truly never believed that this would happen, she said during her acceptance speech.
She joked about her multiple nominations.
The fact that you have thought that my work was worthy of notice 19 times is something that I will treasure always, she said.
She competed on the seventh season of Dancing With the Stars in 2008. She and professional dance partner Tony Dovolani came in sixth place.
All My Children ended its forty-plus-year run in September. The show was reportedly in talks to continue filming and showing online, but the idea was dropped.
Lucci slammed rumors that she ruined the show's continuation.
This is simply untrue and not the case, she wrote on Facebook. We have been in discussions since Prospect Park first expressed interest in moving the series online, and in correspondence dated September 8th, I made it clear that I would be ecstatic to be a part of 'All My Children' in a prominent way if they committed to producing the series for another year.
