‘Happy!’ Season 1 Spoilers: Episode 2 Synopsis, Trailer, Sneak Peek Released

Sax refuses to believe that he’s a father in Season 1, episode 2 of “Happy!”

At the end of the series premiere of the Syfy crime dramedy, Happy (voiced by Patton Oswalt) revealed to Sax (Christopher Meloni) that he’s the father of Hailey (Bryce Lorenzo), the young girl who was kidnapped by Very Bad Santa (Joseph D. Reitman) at the beginning of the first episode.

But instead of rushing to save Hailey, the detective-turned-hitman prepares to leave New York. According to the synopsis for episode 2, Sax crashes a high-stakes poker game to win guns and cash for his escape from the Big Apple. Happy tries to convince Sax that he’s already a father but it remains to be seen whether the imaginary winged horse is going to succeed.

In a sneak peek from the episode, Sax appears to dream about being on “The Jerry Springer Show” after the car he was driving in the final moments of the premiere was struck by an oncoming truck. When Sax admits in front of the studio audience that he’s no idea why he’s on the show, host Jerry Springer quickly reveals that he’s really not there. “This is a metaphor,” Springer explains. “You’ve experienced a near-death bodily trauma after hearing the best news any guy can ever hear.”

When Springer asks the crowd to make some noise for the “new papa,” Sax says, “Sorry to disappoint but I’m nobody’s daddy,” before adding that the only thing he’s a father to is a “baseball-sized colonic impasse.”

But Sax finds himself speechless when Springer introduces his ex-wife and Hailey’s mother, Amanda (Medina Senghore), on the show. “You can’t even bear to look at her. Can you Nick?” Springer teases Sax. “What are you running from?”

While Sax is still in denial that he’s already a father, the synopsis for the next episode reveals that Amanda and Sax’s former lover Meredith (Lili Mirojnick) team up to rescue Hailey even though both ladies are clearly not in good terms.

“You owe me,” Amanda tells Meredith when they meet each other at the police station in the trailer for the episode.

When Meredith replies that she doesn’t owe Amanda anything, the single mom loses her cool and punches the detective in the face.

“Happy!” Season 1, episode 2, titled “What Smiles Are For,” airs on Wednesday, Dec. 13 at 10 p.m. EST on Syfy. Watch the trailer and the sneak peek from the episode below:
