Harold Camping: I can’t be responsible for anybody’s life (PHOTOS)
Harold Camping, the failed Doomsday prophet, appeared on Monday, May 23, 2011 at the Open Forum in Family Radio headquarters in Oakland, Calif. where he announced October 21, 2011 to be the new Doomsday date.
The 89-year-old Family Radio president had predicted earlier that on May 21, 2011 around 200 million people will Rapture into heaven. In addition, deadly natural disasters will strike the earth and continue until October 21, 2011 when the world will be completely destroyed. Many followers of Camping bought into his words and invested in the Doomsday campaign, to the extent of quitting their jobs and emptying their savings.
At the Open Forum, Camping did not admit that his prediction was totally wrong. He claimed that Rapture indeed took place, but only in a spiritual sense. Camping maintained that the world will be completely destroyed physically on October 21, 2011. He added that he will not be returning any money to his followers whose life may have been ruined and will take no responsibility for any act committed as an aftermath of the unfulfilled prediction. To those who lost all they had, Camping simply said they should have “relied on God and not me” because only God is infallible. He also told them to “cope” and “pray”.
Do you think Camping’s October 21 Doomsday prediction will come true? Or is he too arrogant to admit that his prediction is all wrong?
