Harrison Ford, George Lucas and ‘Star Wars’ Cast Mourn Carrie Fisher’s Death
The “Star Wars” cast and crew are mourning a great loss. Carrie Fisher, who has been with the franchise since the first 1977 film, died Tuesday after suffering a heart attack last week. “Star Wars” creator George Lucas released a statement expressing his grief over her death.
The director praised Fisher’s acting and writing. He also noted that he was thinking about both her mother Debbie Reynolds and daughter Billie Lourd during this difficult time. Read his statement below:
Harrison Ford, who played Han Solo, echoed Lucas’ statement. “Carrie was one-of-a-kind…brilliant, original,” the actor said in a statement to People. “Funny and emotionally fearless. She lived her life, bravely…My thoughts are with her daughter Billie, her mother Debbie, her brother Todd, and her many friends. We will all miss her.”
Ford was friendlier with Fisher than most cast members. In her memoir “The Princess Diarist,” Fisher revealed that she had an affair with the actor when she was 19. He was 33 and married.
Of course, others from the “Star Wars” family have reached out as well. “The Force Awakens” director J.J. Abrams posted a note in which he called the late actress “tough and wonderful” among other compliments.
Mark Hamill was among the first to react with a brief tweet. Check out his and other cast members’ reactions below:
