Harry Hamlin has been married to his wife, Lisa Rinna, for 25 years, and he's now sharing the secret to their lasting marriage.
"'Happy wife, happy life' really is my mantra. And it works," the 71-year-old author told People in an exclusive interview before noting that they do things individually and meet halfway by listening to each other.
"We listen to each other, and we're not clingy. She does what she wants, so I can do what I want," he explained.
Hamlin was married twice before meeting Rinna and tying the knot with her in 1997. He was previously married to Laura Johnson and Nicollette Sheridan but maintained that he hasn't had too many relationships in between his three marriages.
"I'm different from a lot of men in my generation because I did not play the field. The number of people with whom I've been intimate is not very many — I marry them, mostly," he said.
The Golden Globe-nominated actor also shared his take on why most couples struggle to keep their relationships.
"I think a lot of people end up trying to work s—t out with their lovers. Breaking the cycle is not easy. ... How do you make that friendship and relationship work both romantically and platonically?" he said.
This coming March, Hamlin and Rinna will be celebrating their marriage's 26th year. The pair was blessed with two daughters, Delilah, 24, and Amelia, 21, amid their lasting marital union.
In February last year, Hamlin also spoke out on their successful marriage, telling People that their secret was "being diametrically opposite."
"I like going up to the mountains, and her idea of camping is anything below the 10th floor of the Four Seasons," he said at the time.
Meanwhile, Rinna talked about her future on "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" last month after the show's 12th season. According to the reality star, she's open to returning for another installment.
Rinna admitted that Season 12 was the "hardest season" for her due to her feud with co-star Kathy Hilton, who called her the "biggest bully in Hollywood."
Producers opted for the cast to take a break from filming the reality series in 2022 and resume this year. Rinna said it "was needed" after a "very intense season."
