Harry Potter Gift Guide: 11 Present Ideas For Anyone Who’d Rather Be At Hogwarts For The Holidays
This year has been very kind to “Harry Potter” fans. The eighth story was revealed in “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” on the West End. The early 20th century was explored in the first “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” movie, and Potterheads were able to discover their patronuses on Pottermore. Help top off a Potter-filled 2016 with the perfect holiday gift for your favorite witch or wizard.
1. Wands — “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” added even more collectible wands to the Noble Collection’s already large group. Seraquina Piquery’s amethyst wand handle is a pretty new edition, but Newt Scamander’s slightly plain wand is sure to be the popular choice. Wands start at $14.50.
2. Wine Glasses — Those kids who grew up with Potter are now adults who might enjoy a nice glass of wine. This set of stemless glasses from Etsy ($29.99) show off the phrases “I solemnly swear that I am up to no good” and “mischief managed.”
3. Socks — Any Dobby fan would surely appreciate the gift of “Harry Potter” socks ($8), and they make a great stocking stuffer too.
4. A Niffler — Sure, there were tons of creatures in “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” but the adorable Niffler stole the show. Of course, you can’t get a real one, but you can get a Funko POP vinyl figure ($14.95), which is almost as cute.
5. Cutting Board — For the chef in your life, get a new bamboo cutting board. Etsy has ones that can be personalized along with the phrase, “I solemnly swear my cooking’s so good.” Prices start at $17.
6. Candle — Maybe you’re not celebrating Christmas at the Burrow with the Weasley family, but your house can smell just like Molly’s holiday cooking with Frostbeard’s candle ($18).
7. Ilvermorny T-Shirt — American witches and wizards go to Ilvermorny, so why not represent the American wizarding school? Check out this Ivermorny Alumni shirt on Etsy, starting at $22, which is available for her and for him.
8. Lumos Charm Bracelets — These pieces of jewelry let your loved ones show off their “Potter” love and support charity. Part of the proceeds from the bracelets, which are plated in either gold or silver, go to author J.K. Rowling’s charity Lumos. The organization helps children in institutions. The bracelets start at $49 and come with three charms. Additional charms are available for $19.95 each.
9. Key Holder — “Alohomora” is the spell to open things, so it’s the perfect word to paint on a key holder. Etsy has many variations, but this one is just $20.
10. Fantastic Beasts Mug — This mug shows the “magical exposure threat level” when it gets hot ($14.95).
11. Cursed Child — “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” introduced new designs for the houses. Show off the simpler design with these pins (£4.95) from the West End show’s official show (they ship internationally).
