Harry Potter scores over Tangled
The magician won over the Princess in the Thanksgiving movie match. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 dominated the box office returns for this Thanksgiving weekend with a $50.3 million earnings. Tangled came in with $49.1 million.
Harry Potter managed to sell around $163.5 million worth of tickets in Canada and US combined, according to Warner Bros. In France it raked in $19.1 million.
Megamind, another animation film came in a poor third with “Love and other drugs”, “Burlesque” and “Faster” doing modest business.
Tangled, a 3D animation film based on the fairy tale adventure of the long haired Rapunzel attracted millions of US families with her charm.
The openings for this Thanksgiving were a little lower than last year when it opened with Twilight Saga and The Blind Side.
The Harry Potter movie has tallied $220.4 million in ten days and has gained on New Moon which had $230.9 million by day ten last year, according to imbd.com
The Christina Aguilera/Cher musical Burlesque only earned $2.8 million. Love and Other Drugs made $2.2 million and Faster sank to $1.5 million, reports imbd.com
