Harry Styles Interrupts His Show To Call Fan's Ex-Boyfriend [Watch]
A video showing Harry Styles gladly interrupting his show to help out a fan has endeared the "As It Was" singer to his supporters even more.
"Dear Harry Styles, my ex called after seven years — what do I do?" read a handwritten sign from a fan during Styles' Madison Square Garden, New York City, show Saturday.
Footage from the concert showed Styles asking the crowd what they would do if an ex calls after seven years. Amid screams, the 28-year-old singer asked the fan, identified as Ingrid, how long they had been together. "One year," she replied.
"The numbers don't look good, do they," the "Watermelon Sugar" singer replied.
Fans urged Styles to call Ingrid's ex-boyfriend, named Josh, and the singer obliged.
Deafening cheers resounded in the place as Styles held the phone waiting for Josh to pick up the call.
"Quiet Madison Square Garden please," the singer said as he tried to silence the crowd three times during the call.
"Hello Josh? Hello? Is that Josh? Is that Josh?" he asked the other person on the line who quickly ended the call.
"Ingrid, I wish you all the happiness," Styles told the fan as he returned the phone to her. "It's not with Josh. There's someone else who's gonna treat you with respect. They're gonna love you for who you are."
He added, "Josh? It's never Josh!"
Saturday's sold-out concert gathered roughly 20,000 fans, who joined the singer as he sang his hit numbers like "Daydreaming" and "Adore You." The former One Direction vocalist also performed 18 other songs, including "Golden," "Daylight," "Keep Driving," "Matilda," and "Little Freak."
Styles performed in a "relatively spartan" space, with just a few sets of drums and keyboards on either side of the stage, Billboard reported. The ramp extended from the center stage, which allowed the singer to come closer to the crowd during his performance.
"I've had the pleasure of playing this building several times in my career, and it's been amazing every time," Styles told his fans at the end of the show. "Without you, it's me playing to an empty room — and that's a very different crowd."
