Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young has been off to a fantastic start this season, but Tuesday night, it looked as though the promising athlete was going to come up short after a nasty looking ankle injury early in the second quarter.

While driving to the basket against the Heat, Young looked to injure his ankle pretty severely as it appeared to roll. The Point Guard was taken to the locker room immediately and ruled out for the night with an ankle sprain.

The news, however, is not bad. It seems just an ankle sprain, and the player will not miss very much time at all. X-rays right after the injury indicated that there were no fractures or tears. His ankle has improved so much that they have opted not to do an MRI and just let the ankle heal on its own, allowing the athlete to go day to day as far as determining when he will be playing anytime soon.

Young has had a stellar career so far punctuated by the beginning of this season where he has averaged 34 points per game this season as well as nine assists per game. He has been shooting 52 percent of field goals, which is almost unheard of. As far as injuries go, the talented young man only missed one game last season. In college, he didn't miss any games at all due to injury or anything else; he is a real workhorse.

Hawks coach Lloyd Pierce said, “They did X-rays. I don’t think they saw anything.” Young did not return to the game but he seems to be in good spirits, according to a report by CBS "For me I got it looked at, just trying to see what's all wrong with it. Right now, I'll be day-to-day. I feel good. See how tomorrow feels and go from there."

The Hawks certainly need him if they hope to make the playoffs, which they failed to do in the last two years. After Young left the game, the Hawks absolutely failed in their attempts to come back, and they lost to the Heat 112 to 90. They have now dropped in the standings at 2 wins and 2 losses.
