As per Express, heart attack occurs when the supply of oxygen and blood to the heart is cut short. Blockages in the arteries are the primary culprits behind a heart attack. These blockages are usually brought about by bad cholesterol, otherwise known as low-density lipoprotein or LDL cholesterol. When this clogs the arteries, a heart attack can become inevitable.
The Diet Factor
As per health experts, your diet plays a very important role when it comes to your risk of suffering from a heart attack. If your diet primarily comprises of fried foods, you are putting yourself at a high risk of a heart attack.
According to Express’ report, those who eat fried foods in about one or three times per week, significantly increase their risk of suffering from the condition. In fact, the 3x group has a 7% higher risk of a heart attack. Those who eat only once per week don’t have the same degree of risk. Obviously, those who eat fried foods daily are at a much higher risk, which is 14%.
An Appalling Study
A study that was made with the US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health analyzed how fried food consumption plays a role in heart attack risk. Registered dietician Dana Angelo White said that she was not a bit surprised when reports came out regarding the relationship between fried-food eating and heart attack risk. In fact, the World Health Organization recommended limiting the consumption of saturated and also trans fats. They also warn against too much consumption of salt and sugar in the diet. These components, however, are found abundantly in many processed foods, snacks, and even beverages.
Other Activities
While diet plays a huge factor in increasing your risk of heart attack, there are also other activities that you can opt for to help lower your risk. Among the things that you can do is to engage in cardio exercises.
One study has also shown that yoga can give your body a ton of health benefits, including lowering your blood pressure reading, which also happens to be correlated with a heart attack. By avoiding fried foods and engaging in exercises, you would be able to lower your risk.
