Heath Ledger’s Daughter Matilda Is 'Much Like Her Dad,' Late Actor's Parents Reveal [PHOTO]
Heath Ledger’s daughter, Matilda, is the splitting image of her father, the late actor's parents said in a recent magazine interview.
Sally and Kim Ledger told the Australian magazine, New Idea, that their seven-year-old granddaughter constantly reminds them of their son.
“Matilda is indeed very much like her dad — she has long limbs and similar features,” Sally Ledger said in the magazine interview that was cited by Radar Online. “However, she also possesses the beauty of her mamma — lucky girl.”
“The Dark Knight” actor died in his Manhattan apartment on Jan. 22, 2008 from an accidental drug overdose. He was 28. Shortly after their son's death, Ledger's parents traveled to Los Angeles from Australia to accept an Oscar he won for his turn as the Joker in "The Dark Knight."
"It has been an extremely difficult five years, as not a day goes by when we don't feel the immense loss of Heath," Sally Ledger told the magazine.
Four months prior to his death, Ledger had split with Matilda’s mother, actress, Michelle Williams. The couple met while co-starring in the 2004 Oscar-nominated film “Brokeback Mountain.”
Matilda lives in New York with her mother, but her grandparents who still live in Australia said they remain involved in her life.
“Our family has the most wonderful relationship with both Matilda and Michelle. We talk frequently and visit as often as we can,” Kim Ledger told New Idea magazine, adding, “Matilda has the same walk as Heath and is such a respectful little kid – she calls us ‘Papa’ and ‘Grandma Sal.’”
