Actress Heather Locklear, who played a scheming advertising executive in 1990s drama Melrose Place, is reprising the role in the new version of the show, the CW television network said on Tuesday.

Locklear will star again as Amanda Woodward in an episode airing on Tuesday, November 17. The CW has declined to say how many episodes would feature the actress.

Locklear, 47, was one of the biggest stars of the original Melrose Place when she played a blond vixen whom viewers either rooted for or rued.

Locklear's addition to the new Melrose Place comes as the remake has suffered disappointing ratings since its September 8 debut. Last week the hour-long soap opera had 1.8 million viewers, which was down 21 percent from its debut episode.

The new Melrose Place is both a remake and a continuation of the original series, which aired on Fox from 1992 to 1999. Other stars who came back for the latest version include Laura Leighton and Thomas Calabro.

Melrose Place revolves around the personal dramas of 20-something professionals and students living in a Los Angeles courtyard apartment.

Locklear, who has been nominated for six Golden Globe awards, also starred opposite Michael J. Fox in the sitcom Spin City from 1999 to 2002.
