Heavy schoolbag can cause heavy damage to nerve and back
Good students school not only have their grades to worry about but also a new form of disorder called Rucksack Paralysis which is categorized by symptoms like pain and tingling in the hands and arms. It is caused by the strain on shoulders and arms and the problem can become permanent if the person continues to carry packs that are too heavy.
According to the nerve spine specialist in the US this disorder can be aggravated if the child continues to strain or slouch with a heavy pack. They advice that the parents should ensure that children do not carry things that are unnecessary for their work at school. In fact children should avoid slinging a backpack over just one shoulder.
To better support the back, neck and the shoulders the spine specialists suggest carrying a bag with a waist band to distribute the weight, or carrying a rolling backpack.
