Heisman Trophy Betting Odds: When To Watch, Who Will Win College Football's Biggest Award
College football’s regular season is in the books, and the game’s highest honor will be handed out this weekend. Fans can watch the trophy presentation at 8 p.m. on Saturday on ESPN.
But who will win? According to OddsShark, it will probably be the one who is least likely to play in the NFL. Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray has a contract with the Oakland A’s waiting for him after this football season and still does not know if he will enter the NFL draft, but he is the Heisman favorite with -190 odds.
Murray finished the season 4,053 passing yards, 40 touchdowns and just seven interceptions. On top of that, he had 892 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns.
The three finalists are Murray, Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins. Tagovailoa had 3,353 yards, 37 touchdowns and just four interceptions as he led the Crimson Tide to an undefeated season and a No. 1 ranking. However, a poor performance in the SEC title game might have hindered his chances. He sits at +150 odds.
Whoever loses might have a chip on their shoulder, as Oklahoma and Alabama will face off in the College Football Playoff later this month.
Finally, Haskins had an outstanding season for the Big Ten champion Buckeyes, putting up 4,580 yards, 47 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He broke the single-season Big Ten passing touchdown record set 20 years ago by the current NFL MVP favorite, Drew Brees.
However, a mid-season blowout loss to Purdue and his team missing the playoffs might have doomed him to third place. He sits at +6,000 odds to win the Heisman Trophy.
