Here’s What The ‘Superbad’ Cast Looks Like 10 Years Later
“Superbad” brought the laughs in 2007 and continues to so today.
This film followed the adventures of high school seniors getting ready for a graduation party that they hoped would change their lives, and, in real life, the film did just that for its stars. It changed the lives for them all, kicking off some careers while changing the course of others.
With the cult-classic teen comedy celebrating its 10th anniversary Thursday, it’s the perfect time to take a look at what the cast looks like now and what they’re up to 10 years later.
Jonah Hill (Seth)
Hill has become a staple in the comedy world. “Superbad” helped catapult him into this status and he hasn’t disappointed since.
He’s worked with so many other comedic actors and always seems to have a real on-screen connection with them all, but it’s his partnership with Channing Tatum in the “21 Jump Street” film series that really got people talking, and laughing.
Hill is currently working with fellow “Superbad” alum Michael Cera on the animated TV film “The Shivering Truth” and working with another alum, Emma Stone, on her Netflix series “Maniac,” as well as the third “How To Train Your Dragon” film with Christopher Mintz-Plasse.
Michael Cera (Evan)
The release year of this film marked the year of Cera. Besides his lead role in “Superbad,” Cera also broke out in the quirky hit “Juno.” From there he made waves as Nick in “Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist” with Kat Dennings. He proceeded to have quite the interesting credit list filled with both indie and mainstream projects.
Now, Cera is working with Hill on “The Shivering Truth,” and the drama film “Molly’s Game” with Jessica Chastain and Idris Elba.
Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Fogell)
This movie was Mintz-Plasse’s first real acting job and it’s unforgettable. While he’ll forever be known as McLovin, no matter how many years pass, he’s also gone on to spread his own name around on a bunch of projects. He hit it off with Paul Rudd and Seann William Scott in “Role Models” in 2008, and then added quite a few more TV shows and movies to his list before playing Tommy in the hit movie “Pitch Perfect” and Scoonie in the “Neighbors” franchise.
Recently, Mintz-Plasse starred as Clark on Joel McHale’s TV series “The Great Indoors” for one season before it was canceled. He’s currently working on “How to Train Your Dragon 3.”
Bill Hader (Officer Slater)
Both before and after “Superbad” Hader has been a constant in the comedy scene as he worked on “Saturday Night Live” from 2005 until 2013, still appearing once in a while as a guest. Since leaving “SNL,” Hader had his first major leading-man moment as Amy Schumer’s love interest in 2015’s “Trainwreck.”
Shortly, he’s going to be start work on “Empress of Serenity,” a comedy with actress Issa Rae. He’s also landed the lead, titular role in HBO’s upcoming series “Barry,” which will begin airing in 2018.
Seth Rogen (Officer Michaels)
Coming to fame on the 1999 cult TV series “Freaks and Geeks,” this film was just another role on a list of many for Rogen. But the comedy itself was so much more than that. This was his first big movie that he wrote with Evan Goldberg and executive produced. This movie being a hit helped Rogen continue to write and work on some comedy greats over the years like “Pineapple Express,” “This is the End,” “Sausage Party” and “Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising.”
Now, Rogen is hard at work on the AMC series he helped write and develop, “Preacher,” as well as work on a long list of movies he’ll be acting in.
Emma Stone (Jules)
“Superbad” was the turning point in Stone’s career. She went from having a few guest stints on TV shows and a starring role in a one-season series to a full-fledged movie star. After this film hit theaters, everything just started falling into place for her career. She spent 2008 with Rainn Wilson in “The Rocker” and Anna Faris in the hilarious “The House Bunny.” She made people laugh in “Ghosts of Girlfriends Past” with Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Garner in 2009. And things have not slowed down since, instead, they’ve only geared up even more.
She took on the teen comedy world once again, this time as the lead, in 2010’s “Easy A” and she did not disappoint. The started to lean towards more adult roles in “The Help,” “Crazy, Stupid, Love,” and last year’s sensation “La La Land.”
Stone just completed work on the tennis film “Battle of the Sexes” and is now working on her upcoming Netflix series “Maniac.” And, in the process, she’s just become Forbes' highest-paid actress of 2017.
Martha MacIsaac (Becca)
In the couple years following this film’s release, MacIsaac took the world of voiceover in three different animated series before working on 2009’s horror flick “The Last House on the Left.” She then went back to TV, but this time it was a live-action role on then-ABC Family’s “Greek.”
She’s continued to steadily work on films and TV shows since then. MacIsaac is working on “Unicorn Store” with Brie Larson. Also, interestingly enough, 10 years after working together on “Superbad,” MacIsaac worked with Stone again, this time on the tennis film “Battle of the Sexes,” which comes out in September.
Fun fact: Former Disney Channel star Laura Marano, now 21, played Young Becca in the film. She’s now working on an album with Warner Bros Records, as well as working on films with Saoirse Ronan, Robert De Niro and Uma Thurman. She just wrapped production on the book-to-film adaptation “Saving Zoe” with her sister and former “Switched at Birth” star Vanessa Marano.
