A 28-year-old assistant football coach of a Florida high school is facing charges for having an "inappropriate sexual relationship" with a minor girl.

Maquedius Dashad Bain was arrested Monday after the 13-year-old girl's mother discovered text messages exchanged between the coach and her daughter, Hollywood Police Department said in a news release Tuesday.

"[The victim]'s mother found explicit text messages between [the girl] and the coach detailing the relationship. She confronted [the girl] about the texts and [she] disclosed the relationship," read the arrest affidavit, reported CBS12. "Bain is a high school football coach at South Broward High School, located in Hollywood, Fla."

The 13-year-old and the assistant coach met at the beginning of the school year and exchanged numbers. They began exchanging texts and had multiple sexual encounters.

The girl had saved Bain's number as "Father" and said their relationship started off as a "father-daughter bond," police said.

"The texts between them were extremely explicit. They discussed having [three positions]. ... He also sent pictures of himself, verifying the conversation was between him and [the girl]," read the arrest affidavit.

The pair reportedly had sex in the back of Bain's car while it was parked at a beach on Nov. 5. The accused was "not wearing a condom" at the time. They also allegedly had sexual encounters on Nov. 9 and Nov. 11.

Bain took the minor girl with him to pick up his kids from their school on one occasion.

The victim's mother eventually "found explicit text messages" on her daughter's phone and confronted her. The girl then told her about the nature of her relationship with the assistant football coach, WPLG Local 10 reported.

Bain was charged with eight counts of sexual battery, one count of an authority figure soliciting or engaging in sexual conduct with a student and one count of traveling to meet a minor to seduce, solicit, lure, entice or engage in unlawful sexual conduct with a child.

Officials from the high school said Bain was fired from his position following the incident. He worked for a year as an assistant football coach for the Broward County Public Schools, district spokeswoman Nadine Drew told the Miami Herald. He was a "temporary employee" and his employment was terminated.
