‘Higurashi: When They Cry’ Episode 2 Live Stream Details, Spoilers: Hinamizawa’s Gory Past

There is something off about the town, and Keiichi Maebara finally learns its grisly past. However, he seems to have just scratched the surface as "Higurashi: When They Cry" Episode 2 will raise the creepiness level a notch.

Without spoiling anything, creator Ryukishi07 told Funimation that things will start moving from the upcoming episode. Ryukishi07 hopes that fans “watch carefully from episode two on.”

Toward the end of the premiere episode, Keiichi finds a stack of old magazines in the dumping area. He remembers Jiro’s remark regarding an incident that happened.

He picks up a magazine and finds out that a construction worker was lynched, murdered, and dismembered at the Hinamizawa dam construction site. Moreover, one of the killers is still lurking somewhere. The scene cuts to Rena looking at Keiichi with an ax in hand. She looks sad and it remains to be seen if she will harm him.

The post-credit scene shows Rika looking down at Rena from a distance. Her bloodshot eyes look in horror anticipating Rena’s next move.

“New kid Keiichi Maebara is settling into his new home of peaceful Hinamizawa village. Making quick friends with the girls from his school, he's arrived in time for the big festival of the year. But something about this isolated town seems "off," and his feelings of dread continue to grow. With a gnawing fear that he's right, what dark secrets could this small community be hiding?” reads the official series synopsis via Funimation.

The series is directed by Keiichiro Kawaguchi. The background score is composed by Kenji Kawai. Hiroto Morishita is credited as the sound director while Kazuhiro Inoue is heading the art direction department.

The cast of "Higurashi: When They Cry" anime includes Soichiro Hoshi as Keiichi Maebara, Satsuki Yukino as Shion Sonozaki and Mion Sonozaki, Mika Kanai as Satoko Hojo, Mai Nakahara as Rena Ryugu, Yukari Tamura as Rika Furude, Miki Ito as Miyo Takano, Chafurin as Kuraudo Oishi, Toshihiko Seki as Kyosuke Irie and Toru Ohkawa as Jiro Tomitake.
